The unlikely expat blogger behind MatrixArchiveCircle

Hello, I'm Sofia
I work as a project manager. A parent. An expat residing in Barcelona, Spain.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Spain wasn’t part of the plan from the outset. As with many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far beyond.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complicated than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines settled in. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Created MatrixArchiveCircle
Most online information was either corporate-level relocation guidance or superficial tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical advice grounded in real life in Spain.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Practical experience gained from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism-board resource
- Sponsored review site
- An ordinary travel diary
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Spain goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have any questions about family life in Barcelona or anywhere in Spain, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
